Acne is the most common skin problem for most people. Though teenagers are most prone to breakouts, acne can appear at any age. Acne usually occurs on the face, neck, shoulders, back, chest, and buttocks. Acne can become very visible and very painful. The emotional impacts of acne can cause on a person to become depressed, insecure, and even embarrassed to be seen in public. People suffering from acne need the support from loved ones and if it gets bad enough, the support of a dermatologist as well.

Although having acne is very upsetting, there are a numerous ways to treat it. There are many skincare products, topical treatments like Proactiv, prescribed oral pills, and home remedies to choose from. It’s important to note that what may work on one person may not work on another. Every person’s acne is different as is each person’s skin type. It’s best to consult a medical professional before trying any medicinal treatment on your own.

Some ways to treat acne:

Toothpaste

Toothpaste, the non-whitening kind, has proven to be an effective spot treatment for your acne. Apply the toothpaste to the affected areas overnight after cleansing and moisturizing your face. The toothpaste will dry out your acne and reduce skin inflammation. Repeat a couple more nights if the results are not visible on your first application. It’s also important to test an area of the skin before applying it to all your pimples or outbreaks. This treatment only works for very mild acne breakouts and is not recommended to apply all over the face.

Ice

Ice can be used as a way to treat acne. Ice helps ease the pain and inflammation on the affected areas. Looking for adding extra nourishment to your skin by fighting acne and reducing signs of aging? Brew natural green tea, pour into ice trays, and massage a couple green tea ice squares on your face in the morning after cleansing and at night after cleansing! We at Acne Skin Site like to call it “Ice on Steroids.”

Eggs

The whites of an egg are also used to kill acne-causing bacteria. Apply on your clean face as a face mask and leave the egg whites on for 20 minutes then rinse off with warm water. Gently pat dry with a soft hand towel then apply an oil-free moisturizer. Your skin will be clean, soft, and rejuvenated.

Consult a dermatologist

If you really want to deal with your problem for the most effective way to treat your acne, consult your dermatologist. He or she will examine your skin, find out your medical background, and give you his or her recommendation for the most effective way to treat your acne.

If you don’t have the funds for acne solution products and consultations with a dermatologist, you can just wait for your acne to disappear. But keep in mind that you should not pick or pop the pimples otherwise you will spread the acne infection to other parts of your skin and have severe scarring.

Eating a healthy diet has a great effect on how your skin looks. There are certain foods that can inflame acne so eating healthy, nutritious food is very important. It will not only improve your skin but your overall health and body.

Cleansing your face regularly is a must. Doing this removes dead skin cells which can trap oil and acne-causing bacteria in the pores. It’s a very simple step but it has a great effect on your skin.

Acne is mainly an effect of hormonal imbalances in the body. Proper diet,  living a stress-free lifestyle, and regular exercise can help in dealing with hormone imbalances. Detoxification would help to regulate hormone levels and prevent acne problems caused by hormonal imbalances.
