Acne Remedies? Be Careful of These Acne Myths

When your acne gets bad enough, you can become desperate to try any treatment that claims to end acne once and for all. If you aren’t careful though, you will actually cause your skin and body more harm. It’s important to listen to us at Acne Skin Site because we know the truth! Check out our do’s and don’ts below and your skin will start looking better within just a few days!

1. Stop Popping and Picking Your Pimples. Young people often pop their zits thinking that this will make them go away. The opposite is true though! Popping your pimples will actually expose you to a bigger host of problems, including infection, especially if you don’t disinfect the affected area, more breakouts, and acne scars. Infections caused by acne can take quite a while to heal, pimples will spread due to the clear fluid that leaks from the popped pimples and seeps into the skin around the broken out area, and acne scars can last for a year…or a lifetime. So don’t pop your pimples, no matter how tempting it may be!

2. Stop Eating Junk Food. Junk food is proven to harm not only your body but your skin as well. You are what you eat – this expression is so true. If you constantly feed your body processed foods high in sugar and fat, you are not only going to be unhealthy internally but externally as well. Exchange bad food for good food like organic fruits and veggies, lean proteins including fish and nuts, and organic whole grain foods. If you are allergic to gluten, there are hundreds of gluten-free options carried at your local grocery store or that can be easily purchased online. You can’t complain that you are unhappy with the way you look while scarfing down a bowl of ice cream or a bag of French fries. Be proactive about your health and make better eating decisions now!

3. Try an Overnight Acne Spot Treatment. No matter how much you try to stop it, your acne seems to appear or get worse right before an important event. Try a topical acne medication that contains benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Either ingredient will dry out and kill the pimple effectively. It may not be completely gone overnight, but it should be smaller and less red by the time your event comes along.

Follow our tips and we know your skin will start looking better within a few days. Don’t get discouraged if your acne seems to have made a permanent home on your face. It is just temporary though it’s important to remember to never pick or pop at your pimples because it will make your acne worse and cause severe scarring. Let them be, be patient, don’t stress out, and it will get better.
