Debunking a Few Common Acne Myths

How many times have you heard about people with acne needing to wash their faces more frequently or that they need to tan to get rid of their acne? How about chocolate, soda, and greasy food causing acne? These are just a few common myths surrounding acne. Let’s go through some of the most common myths involving acne.

Myth #1: Cleansing Your Face More Will Get Rid of Acne

Cleansing your face is vital for removing dead skin cells and excess oil on the surface of your skin, but if you cleanse too often, you can cause more damage. Cleansing with gentle exfoliating cleansers morning and night and following a facial mask treatment once a week to remove deeply embedded impurities is the best way to fight the earthly environments you encounter every day.

Myth #2: Tanning Will Reduce Acne

Soaking up the sun does not remove or reduce acne permanently. What it WILL do is increase the redness in your skin, making the inflammation from acne less noticeable. It will also temporarily dry out your skin and acne, but will overtime cause more oil to be pulled to the surface of your skin because your skin is trying to hydrate the dryness – causing more breakouts. It is also so important to wear sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30. Sunscreen will prevent premature aging, scarring, and skin cancer, which can be deadly.

Myth #3: Junk Food Causes Acne

Although junk food is not good for you, it does not have a direct correlation to the formation of acne. There is no scientific proof that a bit of chocolate or caffeine is going to make your face breakout. If you are looking into ways to better your diet as a way of making your body healthier, then you will likely notice positive changes in your skin as well but it is not going to be the only thing that creates or stops acne.

Some Real Acne Remedies to Help Your Skin

If you are looking for ways to help your skin look and feel better, check out our recipes for homemade facial masks that you can use one to two times a week. They are simple and inexpensive to make with ingredients many people have on hand in their homes already! Something as simple as a banana, orange, or apple and a bit of honey can make a wonderful mask that will help eliminate inflammation and bacteria on your skin so it can begin to heal more quickly.

Taking Care of Your Skin Is Key

Acne myths are everywhere but the truth is easy to find. Don’t be afraid to live your life and enjoy the simple pleasures of a soda, cheeseburger, or brownie every now and then! As long as you take care of your body and keep the unhealthier aspects in low moderation, you will reap the benefits of beautifully clear skin. Remember, what you take in and how you treat yourself will show through your skin.

well i have a similar problem as yours. Acne since my teen years and even now i face the same challenge. With our kind of oily skin we need to really take special care about what we eat and drink and just try and maintain a healthy eating habit for a complete cure. Best way to make sure we remain healthy is to start making conscious effort of drinking as much water as we can. Lime is next best thing that works wonders.

Drinking Lots of water will flush away the harsh toxins.
And personally lime juice worked wonders for me. Just rub a slice of lime on your face and wash it off with cold water in 5 mins.It even lightened my complexion which got darkened due to sun exposure.

Lately I’ve been using a treatment for my face, it’s a mixture of Honey and Cinnamon (few drops of lemon juice could be added) . My skin has improved a lot, and reduced the amount of pimples on my face up to 90%
Just apply it for 20-30 mins on your face on daily bases, and your skin will improve in a week or two
1 tea spoon of Cinnamon and 2 tea spoons of Honey.
Try surfing the web for this treatment, it really helps 🙂
