Diet and Exercise as Effective Acne Treatments

A never-ending debate going on is whether your diet could cause acne breakouts. In the past, an unhealthy diet of chocolate and pizza were blamed by both parents and doctors to be the major contributors in the cause of acne. But these foods have since been removed from the list of acne-causing foods. What cannot be denied is that there are certain foods and nutrients that could help curb the development of acne

So if you want to find out how your diet can be an effective acne treatment, read on:

Vitamin A. Found in foods such as carrots, tomatoes, and spinach, Vitamin A can also be an effective acne treatment. Vitamin A keeps your skin healthy and free from acne-causing bacteria. The formation of bacteria on your pores can cause an eruption of pimples on your skin. So start adding Vitamin A to your diet to fight acne breakouts.

Vitamin B2. Stress is a major cause of acne. What happens when you are stressed is that your adrenal glands go on overdrive, releasing high levels of androgens, which in turn over stimulates the oil glands on your skin. With excess oils, your pores become clogged and acne develops. Vitamin B2 is a well-known vitamin that helps the body relax, and thus eliminate stress. Foods that are rich in Vitamin B2 include fish, green leafy vegetables, and eggs.

Add Fitness to Prevent Acne

If you care about making healthy changes to your diet, you’ll also want to incorporate working out in you daily routine. Exercise can help prevent acne breakouts. When you work out, you can help lower your stress levels. Endorphins are released to your body when you exercise, causing an improved mood which is great if you’re going through a stressful situation. So exercise coupled with Vitamin A can be a very potent combination against acne.

Your acne problems may lower your self-esteem and cause depression, but the mood-improving qualities of exercise will definitely give you that much-needed boost.

You will also sweat out toxins from your body when you work out. Releasing these toxins will help your skin look better since the toxins will not be sitting in your system, negatively affecting your overall health and skin.

All in all, finding effective acne treatments is not confined to the things that you apply on your skin. The food that you eat and how active of a lifestyle you live may also help prevent acne. Make sure to also drink plenty of water and you are on the road to achieving better health and clearer skin!
