Understanding Holistic Solutions to Get Rid of Acne

Due to the abundance of over-the-counter acne treatments out there, not many people are aware of the holistic solutions that are available to them. Or if they are aware, their thoughts regarding natural or holistic cures are filled with misconceptions that these cures are not effective.

But what are holistic solutions? Do they really work in getting rid of acne? Let’s read on and find out.

Unlike conventional cures against acne, holistic solutions go beyond merely trying to cure acne from the surface of the skin. These natural solutions are created with the understanding that for every negative condition that a person feels, there’s an underlying reason for it. It could be bad habits, poor diet, lack of proper hydration, and/or lack of exercise. The condition didn’t just erupt as it is. Something must have caused it.

The same principle applies when it comes to curing acne. Natural solutions don’t just look at acne as the main problem, but also looks deeper into the person as a whole and what his or her lifestyle looks like.

There are many reasons why a person experiences an acne breakout. The acne itself is just the tip of the iceberg. The fact that acne can be caused by the overproduction of sebum underneath one’s skin is a sign that the body is not in balance. One’s sebaceous (oil) glands don’t produce excess oils just because they feel like it. Something in the body triggers it.

Depending on various reasons, the overproduction of sebum can be triggered by stress or hormonal changes in the body. The hormonal changes are more apparent in teenagers who experience acne breakouts during puberty. Women will also experience this especially when they are expecting a baby or are expecting a menstrual cycle as their hormones go haywire at either of these times.

It is very important to follow a healthy diet, drink plenty of clean water, and workout regularly. Meditation is necessary to allow your body and mind to rest and it helps create balance in one’s life. If one eats poorly, drinks lots of caffeinated and sugary liquids, and doesn’t work out, that combination is a recipe for disaster.

A holistic approach needs to include proper diet and fitness to keep the body healthy and strong. What one takes into their body for nourishment will ultimately show through his or her skin. A healthier you means less stress, less junk food, less medications and needs to be replaced with positivity, healthy food, and physical activity. You will notice a huge change in a very short amount of time. Our bodies were created to be healthy.
