Berry Detox Smoothie

Ingredients:

6 organic bananas (5 frozen for frothy consistency)

½ cup organic local blueberries (frozen if not in season)

¼ cup organic strawberries (frozen if not in season)

¼ cup organic raspberries

16 oz. of filtered cold water

Prep:

Blend all the ingredients together in the blender until you have a smooth and creamy consistency.

Benefits:

This smoothie is infused with tons of antioxidants and vitamins that will cleanse your liver of toxins that would normally beat down your body and leave you feeling and looking tired and lethargic. After drinking this smoothie, you will be full of vitality and energy all day since you’re filling your body with good things like gorgeous berries and bananas that your body recognizes as real food! It will keep you full and satisfied for a few hours before you need to eat up some more healthy fruits and veggies! The bananas in this smoothie give this drink a smooth, thick, and creamy texture with the perfect amount of sweetness. Make sure that you use only ripe bananas that are spotty and speckled with brown spots since ripe bananas are easiest for your body to digest and are super sweet to taste. Bananas are alos loaded with potassium and Vitamin C which will make you healthy from the inside out. Don’t fall for the myth that “fruit has too much sugar!” They’re good sugars that your body needs to run properly.

Strawberries are high in salicylic acid (the leafy green stem specifically so leave the green tops on your strawberries when blending up) and aid in healing skin tissues while healing acne breakouts. Strawberries are also very high in Vitamin C, which prevents aging, and also heals premature aging of the skin by reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Red raspberries are loaded with fiber, vitamins, and minerals which makes them a great addition to a healthy diet. The nutrients in red raspberries will not only improve your internal health, reducing your risk of heart disease, certain cancers, and improve your vision, but will also leave your skin radiant and clear!

Blueberries are loaded with antioxidants and also help repair broken capillaries and scarring on the skin. Blueberries aid in fighting acne and regulate oil levels on your skin. They are also high in Vitamin A, which is used in many skin-care products to fight acne. These little tiny fruits are deceivingly powerful so make sure you eat at least a cup full or two every day if you have them readily available! Yummy!

Adding filtered water to your smoothie will give the smoothie a nice creaminess while helping you reach your daily intake of 8-10 glasses of water. Your body needs to be properly hydrated to work at optimal levels and will hydrate you from the inside out. When your body is properly hydrated, you have more energy, you feel more awake and alert, and your skin will be moisturized and glowing. Replace refined sugary sodas and juices with fresh water and you will be so pleased with the results in a very short amount of time! Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
