Foods to Avoid

While it’s true that studies are mixed about specific foods causing acne, your overall health dictates the condition of your skin. Therefore, you should still avoid foods that are bad for you because their effects will show in your complexion. Remember, what you put into your body will exude through your skin.

Consuming large amounts of saturated fats is bad for your heart, body, and your acne. In fact, fats are now believed to be one of the biggest culprits when it comes to foods that aggravate acne. High levels of fat can slow down your blood flow. Since proper circulation is integral to fighting acne, the more fat you consume, the harder you make it to heal.

Avoid processed foods that also contain a high amount of sodium and sugar. The more refined a food source is, the less nutritional value it has.

Acne outbreaks are also tied to both increased stress levels and sleep deprivation, so it’s important to avoid caffeine at all costs. Caffeine will obviously interrupt your sleep cycle and can increase stress, especially if you are sleep-deprived. So do yourself a favor and start taking care of your body right now! You will thank us for it!
