Green Tea For Skincare

Green tea is beneficial to your health for a number of reasons. It is also known to cure acne due to its antibacterial properties. It has been proven to fight Staph infections, which include pimple causing bacteria. Green tea is loaded with antioxidants, especially the antioxidant named Epigallocatechin Gallate which happens to be 200 times more powerful than Vitamin E! This antioxidant fights against free radicals in your body that harm your cells and gentle tissues. In addition, it stabilizes your hormone balance which controls your acne and heals inflammation and redness on your skin.

Green tea is added to many skincare products due to all the benefits listed above and is so gentle on the skin yet powerfully can kill acne. Below are other benefits and known facts about green tea for treating acne:

1. The leaves of the green tea plant, Camellia sinensis, carries a powerful and natural astringent within it that is known to diminish acne and the bacteria that causes it. Grind up some of the leaves and mix in with your gentle cleanser. Use as an exfoliating cleanser and reap the benefits of this at-home treatment!

2. In studies, when 4 % benzoyl peroxide cream was compared to 3 % green tea cream on people’s skin with acne, it was found that people who used the green tea cream experienced less dryness and irritation on their skin, had less allergic reactions, and had an overall better reaction to the cream than that of those who used benzoyl peroxide.

3. Green tea also has an abundant amount of Vitamin B and Vitamin C in it. Vitamin B, and Vitamin B12 even more specifically, is found to be essential for skin regeneration. Vitamin C helps produce collagen, which makes the skin more firm and allows the skin to repair itself more effectively.

4. Green tea helps repair skin damaged by the sun, including skin hurt by skin cancer. Studies suggest that drinking 2 cups of green tea a day can help you fight ever getting skin cancer in your life. Though it is important to note that you cannot be in the sun all day long or visit a tanning salon regularly and think that 2 cups of green tea will make up for it. You must be wise and protect your skin from the damaging UV rays when you are able to.

Who knew that green tea could be so beneficial to your skin health in addition to being so delicious? Stock up on green tea and if your body reacts negatively to caffeine, opt for decaffeinated. Feel free to add some honey which is also loaded with many wonderful antioxidants and also can be applied directly to the skin as well, fighting bacteria and not clogging your pores! I get moderate acne but I also have candida. I have read that I shouldn’t drink green tea because it feeds candida so I’ve stopped drinking it. Is this true?
