The Pretty Skin Diet

We all want pretty skin. Don’t try to deny it. No matter if you are a guy or a girl, no one likes breaking out. At Acne Skin Site, we believe achieving healthy glowing skin starts from within. If you don’t take in healthy, nutritious food and drink plenty of clean water but instead consume massive amounts of unhealthy food and drink lots of sugary juices and soda, your skin will definitely show signs of your unhealthy eating habits. Pretty skin starts from within. Simply stated and factual. You must eat well to have a healthy body and healthy skin hence why we believe the pretty skin diet is important to follow. Read along to learn about some of our favorite pretty skin foods that you should start incorporating into your diet today!

Walnuts – 90% of phenols, tannins, and flavonoids in walnuts are found in the skin of the walnut, which is why it’s important to eat them raw and with the skin on them. The skin may have a slight bitter taste but it’s so worth the results of healthy skin. Vitamin E is also found in raw walnuts which helps repair skin damage and minimize scarring while stopping premature aging. So eat up!

Whole Grains – There are loads of vitamins and phytonutrients in whole grains but Vitamin E and zinc are super beneficial for beautiful skin. Vitamin E repairs damaged skin and reduces premature aging while zinc is known to reduce acne and heal scarring more rapidly. It also lessens oil production so if you have oily skin, zinc should be an essential part of your diet.

Leafy Greens

Leafy Greens – Dark leafy greens like spinach, kale, and Swiss chard are packed with vitamins like B, C, E, and K and minerals like iron, calcium, potassium, and magnesium. Leafy greens even contain beta carotene and phytonutrients. In addition to all the vitamins within leafy greens, there is a large amount of lutein within the greens, and when you add up all that goodness, your skin will have less wrinkles, less premature aging, less acne, and more hydration and a beautiful healthy glow! You can add these greens to your smoothies, salads, pastas, and more.

Almonds – Raw almonds are high in protein and Vitamin E. Vitamin E happens to be one of the best antioxidants for overall health and clear skin. Specifically, Vitamin E aids in nourishing your skin, healing open wounds and acne, and protects your skin from the sun’s damaging UV rays. Eat up!

Fruit and Almonds

Berries – Blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, goji berries, we can go on and on! All berries are good for you and your skin! They are low in sugar which is great since excess amounts of sugar are proven to trigger and worsen acne breakouts. Berries are rich in vitamins and antioxidants that keep your skin looking healthy, youthful, fresh, and hydrated. Berries are also super easy for your body to digest, helping toxins be released more quickly from your body. Enjoy some berries today!

Sweet Potatoes and Carrots – Sweet potatoes and carrots are simply delicious! Both veggies are rich in beta carotene which converts to Vitamin A in the body. Vitamin A is proven to reduce skin damage caused by the sun, smoking, lack of sleep, etc.

Apples – This delicious fruit contain glycolic acid which aids in keeping skin healthy. They also contain Vitamins A and C, calcium, iron, phosphorous, and potassium which all help skin looking healthy and younger by healing damaged skin from within and preventing premature aging. Apples contain a large amount of water which helps skin look and feel hydrated. Pectin is also found in the skin of apples which helps slow down the breakdown of food into sugar, which can minimize pimples in addition to releasing toxins more quickly out of the body through waste since pectin is proven to help the digestive tract work more easily.  So eat an apple a day to keep the acne and damaged skin away!

Salmon

Salmon – Salmon is a fish that most people enjoy. It’s a mild and delicious tasting fish, packed with essential nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids which minimizes fine lines and wrinkles, slows the aging process,reduces irritated skin, and adds needed moisture to normally dry skin sufferers.

Tomatoes – Tomatoes are packed with vitamins like Vitamins A and C which ward off premature aging while healing skin issues from acne to sun damage. Tomatoes are delicious on their own or in many dishes so get creative and add more tomatoes to your diet.

Oranges and Melons – Though oranges and melons are different types of fruit, both are essential for healthy skin. Oranges are packed with Vitamin C! Vitamin C aids in repairing damaged skin more quickly leaving less scarring visible on the skin. It also assists in the production of collagen so your skin looks more supple and youthful. There are a variety of melons like cantaloupe, watermelon, and honey dew which are packed with lycopene and Vitamins A and C which all help fight free radicals that cause cell damage and cause premature aging. So eat lots of melons to stay looking younger longer!

Green Tea – This light and subtle flavored tea contains numerous amounts of antioxidants that promote the healing of skin damaged by the sun, unhealthy lifestyle choices, or acne. Green tea contains large amounts of Vitamins B and C which are both essential for skin regeneration. Vitamin C promotes the production of collagen so skin can heal more rapidly and beautifully. The antibacterial properties found in green tea help fight acne from within. Just a cup of green tea a day will do your skin a world of difference so make sure you start your day with a fresh cup of this goodness!

Water – Everyone knows how important water is for the body. A minimum of 8-10 cups a day should be consumed to help the body function at supreme levels while leaving the body and skin hydrated as it flushes all the bad toxins out more effectively and rapidly. Our bodies need water. If you don’t have access to the cleanest water, simply purchase a water filter to purify the water you drink daily. The small investment is worth it for beautiful and healthy skin and body.

If you follow our pretty skin diet and incorporate these foods and liquids into your daily diet, you will notice positive changes in your skin in a short amount of time. Eat healthy and pretty and you will feel healthy and pretty…or handsome!
