The saying is so true, “You are what you eat.” Would you consider yourself a greasy pizza pie or a soft, smooth, lean banana? What you take into your body greatly affects your overall health and skin. Many people complain about having health problems and having bad skin, but if they were to sit back and keep a log of what they took into their bodies on a daily basis, they would then see why their health and skin is unhealthy.
Our society is all about quick, fast, and efficiency. Many don’t want to wait long to get there food, want it prepared in just a few minutes, and are on the go again. Unfortunately, they opt for unhealthy options that are quick and easy. Many foods are processed, high in saturated fats, trans fats, preservatives, refined sugar, and sodium yet people still take in these foods on a consistent basis. Doing so causes the body to become overweight and not function properly, while skin becomes overly oily, splotchy, and broken out. Acne can very well form from processed foods and drinks. The only way to stop the insanity is to make a definite lifestyle change to eat healthy – to eat CLEAN.
What does eating clean mean? It means avoiding processed foods and choosing healthy food instead. Healthy foods consist of fresh fruit and vegetables, whole grain products (that are not enriched), and lean proteins like chicken and fish and a variety of nuts. It also includes cutting out all sodas, juices from concentrate, and avoiding drinking caffeinated products to the extreme and replacing these liquids with water. Water is essential for our bodies to function properly and we would die without it. Water keeps our internal bodies cool, flushes out toxins through our waste and sweat, and keeps our skin hydrated and moist so that we don’t get excess oil surfacing on the skin. Many complain that water has no flavor but water is perfect for the body. Slices of lemon can always be added to water to make it more enjoyable in flavor and to add nutrients which are beneficial to the body and skin.
Eating clean means choosing organic foods and produce whenever possible, to avoid ingesting chemicals, pesticides, and fertilizers that are harmful to the body and are linked to causing several diseases including cancer. The less harmful things put into the body, the better the body and skin will react. The body was made to be healthy…so keep it that way. And it will exude through your skin.
