Bad Habits Die Hard

We all have bad habits. Unfortunately some habits are worse than others especially when they affect our mental, emotional, and physical health. Some bad habits hurt your skin and can cause severe acne. What are they? Read further and find out:

1. Smoking: Not only can smoking cause a multitude of health issues including heart disease and lung cancer, it is also detrimental to your skin. You don’t receive enough oxygen to your pores when you smoke so your skin literally suffocates. You will breakout more and look super old super fast. Not cute.

2. Eating junk food: Eating bad not only makes you feel bad but also makes you look pretty bad too. You can gain weight eating food high in saturated fat, calories, sugar, and sodium and it definitely shows on your skin. Junk food can worsen acne because your body absorbs all the “bad stuff” found in junk food. Eat a variety of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.

3. Drinking sugary beverages. The sugar content in many sodas, juices, and sports drinks are out of this world. Stick to water and your body will be more hydrated, process it smoothly, stay more hydrated, and have more energy.

4. Picking and popping your pimples: If you do this, you are just asking for more breakouts. When you pick or pop your pimples, a clear liquid and sometimes blood are released from the center, causing the infection to spread to surrounding areas of the skin. You will also have some unattractive marks and scars on your skin for years to come. Just don’t do it.

5. Party hard: Have you ever heard the phrase, “If you party hard, you look hard”? This phrase is so simple yet true. If you party hard, eat badly, drink alcohol in excess, smoke, use drugs, don’t get enough sleep, you are going to look like a hot mess, simply stated. Take care of your body and you will have a healthier life in general – and look beautiful too!

These are just a few of the bad habits that can cause your skin to look rough. Live a healthy lifestyle and your skin will look healthy too! Stopping bad habits that hurt your skin will have you thanking us one day…and we bet sooner than later!
