Hey guys, bros, dudes, gentlemen, or whatever you liked to be referred as – The days of being to “masculine” to need to follow a proper skincare routine are gone. Even if you don’t admit it, you know you should be following a great skincare routine and today is the day to start. It’s not “feminine” to care about your skin. EVERYONE should care about and take great care of their skin. Dudes, read on for reasons why:
1. Your skin can break out just like a girl. Acne does not discriminate and affects both guys and girls, men and women. You need to take control of acne breakouts and oily or dry skin and the way to do that is through cleansing, toning, and moisturizing your skin morning and night. Using a bar of body soap is not the right approach and can actually cause you to break out more, and can leave your skin more oily or dry, depending on your skin type. There are specific skincare products made for men and now is the time to use them.
2. Men’s skin is often handled more roughly than women’s skin, especially when shaving facial hair is in the picture. Shaving can cause cuts, scrapes ,and ingrown hairs (ouch) which often are mistaken for pimples. Using skincare products geared towards men will help you deal with these annoyances from shaving and breakouts.
3. The change of seasons can often leave your skin more oily at certain times of the year, and more dry at other times. If your skin is more on the oily side, there are cleansers, toners, and moisturizers that will combat the excess oils, minimizing breakouts and will more than likely land you a beautiful and awesome girlfriend or wife that will want to caress your handsome oil-free face. The same goes for you guys that have skin like a lizard. No woman wants to lovingly touch your face if you are scaly and flaky like an amphibian! Utilize a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer geared towards men with dry, irritated skin.
4. It’s also important to use eye cream. You more than likely will feel like a girl following this step, but you and I both know you don’t like seeing those lines forming around your eyes. You’re too young to start aging and the skin around the eyes is very thin and delicate! You need to protect it and it needs more moisture and hydration than an ordinary moisturizer can offer you. Seriously, don’t skip this step. You’ll be grateful you listened one day.
5. Wear a moisturizer with SPF protection every day. It will prevent early signs of aging, skin damage, and skin cancer. This is vital for everyone.
6. Use a benzoyl peroxide topical cream from your local drugstore for acne breakouts. Apply to skin at night after cleansing and moisturizing your skin. Your skin repairs itself at night while you sleep, so this is the best time to use a medicated treatment. Just make sure to use white bed sheets because benzoyl peroxide is known to bleach the color out of sheets.
So now that you are properly educated on skincare, go out and purchase some awesome products made just for men! You will notice a huge difference in a very short amount of time and the benefits will last a long time.
