When it comes to following a skincare routine, many get stumped on which order is the best for applying each product. Most people who have acne follow a three step process but some follow four steps. So let’s see what the best step-by-step process to use for your skin is:

1. This first step is a given. Always start by taking off your eye makeup with an eye makeup remover if you wear eye makeup. You don’t want to mix your face wash with your eye makeup…it’s harder to wash off and some of the product from your eye makeup can get stuck in your pores…never a good thing.

2. Wash your face and neck with a gentle cleanser. Three times a week, incorporate a gentle exfoliating scrub into your cleanser to slough off any dry skin which is actually cellular build-up and can cause you to break out more.

3. If you use a toner, this is where the “extra” step comes in. Toner helps to hydrate your skin and restore the pH balance of your skin.

4. We at Acne Skin Site recommend applying your oil-free moisturizer before topical acne treatment. Hydrate your entire face and neck and allow to soak in for about three minutes.

5. Now apply your topical acne cream wherever you typically break out or on the areas your dermatologist recommends. Avoid the eye and mouth area as to not over dry these areas.

6. If you are more dry due to your acne medication, feel free to apply added moisturizer to your dry skin. Don’t rub it in all the way…leave a little on the surface of your skin and your skin will soak it up in a few minutes like a cold glass of water…ahhh.

Now you know the proper steps in which to have the most effective skincare routine. Your skin will be clean, toned, hydrated, and properly medicated in under ten minutes. Worth it to have clear, fresh
