Many people, especially younger people in their teenage years, think using a face moisturizer is going to make them break out. Because of this mentality, they would rather walk around with dry, flaky, irritated skin than do something about it. What a sad way to live life! Especially because moisturizer will not make you break out – If you use the right kind.
First things first, if you are one of the people walking around with dry flaky skin that is practically rolling off your face and making your face looks crackly, then you need to seriously follow what is said in this blog. Even if you think it’s fine to have dry skin, it’s not. And you say it’s not uncomfortable? We don’t believe you. If you wear cosmetics, your makeup will not lay well on your skin if it’s dry. So NOW is the time to do something about it.
As with any skincare product, there are hundreds of moisturizers on the market. Some for your body, some for your face, others specifically for your hands and feet. With face moisturizers, there are some with oil and others are oil-free. They all have different ingredients and each person’s skin reacts differently to each product. So how do you choose? It’s not that difficult actually. Everyone should wear an oil-free face moisturizer during the day. Since it’s oil-free, it will not make you break out. This is due to the fact that our skin needs moisture…it craves it. There are two types of moisture. The kind you get from a moisturizer, which is the good kind. Then there is the kind you get from your skin, excess oils, which is the bad kind. If you don’t moisturize your skin daily, your skin looks for moisture and pulls up bad oils it from beneath the skin to hydrate itself. These bad oils make you breakout because your face becomes greasy throughout the day and clogs your pores with the bad oils that are surfacing. If you use an oil-free moisturizer, you are balancing the pH levels in your skin, allowing moisture to be added to your skin without getting greasy and oily. If you are super dry, it’s ok to use a moisturizer with oil added for the nighttime. Your skin restores itself while you sleep and adding extra moisture to your cleansed skin will not harm it.
Do not live your life with dry uncomfortable looking and feeling skin. Start hydrating and you will see incredible results. Less acne, less dryness…it’s a beautiful thing.
In the past, I also thought that moisturizers would cause pimples too. It’s because they make your face look oily. Of course, I don’t believe that now. One of the moisturizers that I often use is the one by Image Skincare. It suits me since I often get exposed to sunlight.
