It’s amazing to us here at Acne Skin Site that some people are overly concerned about their skin to the point that it becomes obsessive and then there are other people that don’t care about their skin at all and treat it as poorly as if it was garbage. Yes, this may sound harsh, but it’s true. There needs to be a middle road and cheers to those that have chosen the middle road. It’s important to care for your skin, not only because it’s a part of you and it’s the first thing people see when they meet you, but because it protects you from harsh environments in everyday life. So which of these three types are you?
Overly Obsessive (OO)
Do you wash your face more than 3 times a day and constantly stare at your face in the mirror, examining it, and are either doing so because you love the way you look (this can fall under conceited or vein by the way) or are you doing this because you are so unhappy with your skin and complexion and are just addicted to trying to make it better? Either way, it’s not healthy to be OO. Over-cleansing the skin can irritate it and dry it out, causing you to break out more in the long run due to the skin pulling more oils to the surface than necessary trying to re-hydrate the skin. Make sure to only cleanse your skin 3 times a day TOPS and follow with a non-alcohol toner and oil-free moisturizer. Don’t obsess over your looks, whether you are happy with how you look or not. Focusing on the exterior too much can cause you to miss out on so many wonderful things in life, including focusing on what kind of person you are inside. Take care of yourself, be active, find hobbies you enjoy doing, and go out and make friends! Focus on your heart, mind, and soul and people will love you for YOU and not because of what you look like.
Could Care Less (CCL)
If you could care less about your skin and don’t follow any skincare routine, shame on you! You are given one life. One chance to take care of your body inside and out. If you don’t follow proper hygiene, how do you expect to feel good about yourself? I mean really…how good can it feel to go to bed at night and more times than not, not wash your face beforehand. I mean, COME ON! That is just gross. Think about all that your skin comes in contact with during the day that settles into your skin: Germs, bacteria, dirt in the air, on your hands, and on your cell phone. You are asking for acne and bad skin. And if by some miracle you don’t have acne from not taking care of your skin, you ARE adding years onto your face long before you should. You will undoubtedly look older years sooner and then you’ll regret it. So do yourself a favor. Cleanse your face morning and night with a gentle exfoliating cleanser, tone your skin with a gentle toner, and hydrate with an oil-free moisturizer. This routine will only take 3 minutes twice a day…so what are you waiting for? Stop acting like you CCL and start to care!
Middle of the Road
Congrats to you! You care about your skin, but know that your skin does not define you. You follow a healthy, daily skincare routine and even though your skin may not be perfect, still enjoy life and don’t dwell on the fact that you are not perfect. You know why? Because NO ONE is perfect! Continue taking care of yourself from the inside out and pass on your positive energy to others! J
