Witch Hazel

Witch hazel may not have the most flattering name – In fact, it sounds like something poisonous or not safe to put on the skin! But do not be deceived by the name. Witch hazel is amazing for your skin. It is a top essential oil added to many skincare products due to its ability to clear skin and soothe irritation. Read further to learn about the wonderful effects of witch hazel essential oil.

Rejuvenates the Skin – Witch hazel rejuvenates your skin, especially if you’re overheating or suffering from irritation or inflammation. It is wonderful to apply to the skin after getting the hairs on your face threaded or waxed. It minimizes redness, seals pores, and leaves skin feeling wonderfully smooth. Simply pour some witch hazel on a cotton ball and sweep on your freshly cleansed face.

Reduces Pimples – Witch hazel is a natural astringent like lemons and limes and is safe enough to use daily on your face as a toner after cleansing and before moisturizing. It minimizes oil, seals pores, and reduces inflammation and breakouts.

Seals in Hydration – This wonderful essential oil locks moisture into your skin while minimizing oil. It works great as a moisturizer after cleansing the skin and will keep you hydrated all day long. Again, even though it moisturizes your skin, it will keep oil to a minimum so it’s a really wonderful product for the skin.

Sunburned Skin – Because witch hazel is known for soothing irritation and inflammation, it is also ideal to use on sunburned skin. It works to heal skin from the top layers and seeps its way into the deeper layers of skin, treating damaged skin layers deep. It also reduces skin irritations associated with Psoriasis and Eczema.

Bruised Skin – Witch hazel contains a large quantity of tannins which are proven to reduce swelling and inflammation. The tannins also constrict blood vessels and heal damaged skin more quickly than would normally heal without the application of witch hazel.

As you can see, there are numerous benefits to using witch hazel on a daily basis. It can be added to a moisturizer you already use, can be used in place of a moisturizer, can be added to a homemade face mask, or can be used as a toner. Any way you decide to incorporate witch hazel to your daily skincare routine, you will not be disappointed. Your skin will look healthier in no time…just make sure to spread the good word of witch hazel to your friends and family as well!
