As you probably know by now, not all acne treatment creams do the same thing even though they have the same stated purpose. There’s no doubt you’ve probably tried a variety of creams to Get Rid of Acne only to find that they weren’t effective or irritated your skin. The following is a list of the different things that acne creams are supposed to do. Note that not all creams do all of these things. Many just do one of them.
Killing Bacteria
Acne inflammation is caused by certain strains of bacteria being allowed to flourish on the skin. So of course many acne treatment creams target the bacteria specifically. This tends to be the most effective method, however, it does come at a price. Creams that kill bacteria might dry out your skin or make it red. In some instances, you might find it can bleach facial hair.
Removing Oil
Some creams look to prevent acne by removing the oils on the skin that acne needs to thrive. Oils will clog the pores, allowing the bacteria to reproduce. This is why washing your face daily is such an important part of combating acne. Oil is a major contributor. As you might have guessed, creams that remove oil have a tendency to dry out your skin. Since the cream is absorbing what’s on the surface, it’s leaving your skin without some of its much needed moisture.
Skin Cell Treatment
Acne treatment creams that target the growth of new skin cells and the removal of dead ones work in similar ways to the creams that remove oils. Like oil, dead skin cells clog the pores. By also focusing on helping new skin cells grow, inflammation is reduced and acne isn’t allowed to develop as quickly. Some of these creams can carry an unpleasant odor.
