Tired of having oily skin? Well there is good news for those who suffer from this it. Oily skin means that your skin has lesser tendency to develop fine lines and wrinkles, though it that doesn’t seem like great news at the moment since you are currently battling a greasy face that is prone to acne. Read on to learn about the skin remedies for oily skin.

Oily Skin and Factors Affecting Oily Skin

Oily skin occurs due to the sebaceous glands over-producing sebum (oil) that surfaces on the skin. This may be due to different factors like heredity or genes, diet, shift in hormonal levels like higher levels of hormones for women who are pregnant, currently in their menstrual cycle, and going through menopause. Puberty is also another common cause for teenage acne when hormones shift and become imbalanced.

Birth control pills could also affect hormonal changes. Excessive use of Cosmetics and the humidity or hot weather is another contributing factor to oily skin. Age may also be a defining factor. At a younger age kids have less sebaceous gland activity than they do at puberty, and then it changes again in one’s 20’s, and so on.

Care for Oily skin

Oily skin needs special skin remedies and extra attention to prevent acne. Oily skin is more prone to acne due to overactive sebaceous glands emitting excess oil that can clog the pores with acne-causing bacteria, causing pimples to rupture.

When cleansing, massage your face in an outward and upward circular motion. Oily skin should be cleansed twice daily with a mild cleanser but no more than three times a day. It’s important to also use a toner that doesn’t have alcohol in it and then to follow with an oil-free moisturizer to balance the pH levels of the skin.

With makeup, choose the right makeup. Use only oil-free and paraben-free cosmetics to avoid clogging of the pores.

Diet for Oily skin

Eating organic green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits are part of the skin remedy for oily skin. Avoid excessive use of salt and sugary foods like cakes and chocolates. Drink lots of water as it helps in flushing out dangerous toxins. Do not drink lots of alcoholic beverages and avoid cooking with unhealthy oils. Also avoid eating fatty foods. Simply follow these skin remedies to prevent acne and take care of your oily skin by following good hygiene and by eating the right diet.
